Large mechanical failures could often be avoided by easy maintenance checks as simple as checking the oil once a week. Preventative maintenance is key. One priority to maintain is to address drivability issues before they cause bigger, more expensive issues down the road.

FLUID CHECKS
💧💧💧
Fluid Checks are vital to the health of the internal workings of the engine. Without the proper amounts of fluids in your vehicle you will subjecting your investment to unnecessary wear and tear reducing the longevity of your vehicle. When these level are below normal you run the risk of major mechanical failure which is very costly. CHECK YOUR ENGINE OIL REGULARLY
👀👀👀
Regular oil changes are a necessity to heath of your engine. Neglecting this one simple check could possibly result in thousands of dollars in repairs! Some time oil leaks will originate as seals and gaskets wear out. Plus, vehicle vibration can loosen bolts causing leaks. Express Motors recommends changing your oil every 3000 miles, but more than that we also advice individuals to be on the look out for oil leaks that could eventually cause damage to the engine. We encourage people to check their oil levels every other week to insure the protection of there investment. It is important to listen for unusual motor noise which could be early signs of low motor oil. Early detection results in big savings!

CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL
🛑🛑🛑
STOP! NEVER CHECK COOLANT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS HOT!!!

As all fluids, proper coolant levels are vital to the longevity of your vehicle. Remember, because of the high temperatures, temperature fluctuations, and constant pressure, coolant leaks are a more predominant issue. This simple fact requires us to check this fluid regularly. Coolant, also known as antifreeze, keeps the engine running at proper temperatures. When this fluid leaks out it will cause the temperature inside the engine to reach unsustainable levels. This will lead to the warping and melt-down of vital engine components! Plus, it will hurt your wallet because these repair are always costly! Simply checking your coolant once every week or two can equal big savings and less inconvenience.
Look for warning signs: unusual smell in the vents or under the hood, boiling noise under the hood or in the radiator, green or orange fluid leaking under the vehicle, coolant light on the dash.
If you notice any one of these symptoms find a professional to help you diagnosis the issue. FYI - Coolant should be mixed properly @ 50/50 half water - half coolant. Many people think that coolants only purpose is to keep the water from freezing in the winter but it does much more. The purpose of antifreeze is to lower the freezing point of water during the winter, and also raise the boiling point during the summer. After being placed in the car, the antifreeze circulates through the engine system. The coolant runs through the internal combustion system, preventing the different sections of the vehicles engine from becoming too hot. Using straight antifreeze in your car can be just as, if not more detrimental, than no antifreeze at all. Antifreeze must first be mixed with water to produce the desired effect for your engine. Simply running antifreeze through your system alone can cause extremely high temperatures in your engine, resulting in overheating. If you have mistakenly filled your car with only antifreeze without pre-mixing the substance, loosen the bottom radiator hose and drain about half of the coolant. Add water to make about a 50/50 antifreeze-water mixture. Pouring straight water in your cooling system should only be done in emergency situations. Water's boiling point is 100 degrees. Most vehicles operate at 200 degrees plus. Using straight water will result in overheating, boiling over, and excessive evaporation.
That being said, take care of your pre-owned vehicle and it will take care of you!
